Cycling and Yacht Charter Vacations in the Adriatic!

Did you consider a summer holiday, combining sailing on a luxury gulet with a cycling adventure at the same time ? If yes, why not visit Balkan Peninsula and both sail in the Adriatic as well as explore the inland and coastal resorts on your bycicle next summer.  With an increasing number of de-luxe gullets based in Croatia as well as Montenegro and many others visiting from Turkey and Greece, there has never been a better time to do so.

The best about this type of luxury crewed yacht charter is the flexibility the clients can enjoy of visiting new destination every day and then having an organised cycling tour when on land.  This allows yacht charter guests not only to relax on board, but also to be active on land, especially during colder days or when it is raining or too windy to set sail.

The gullet yacht charter and bike tours or cycling holidays are currently organised in East Mediterranean mainly, including Croatia, Greece and Turkey.  Given that cycling is highly developed activity in locations such as Spain (Balearics in particular), South of France, Italy and Slovenia, Bosnia, Malta and Portugal, there is no reason why similar yacht charter experiences cannot be organised in these locations too.  In that case, given that gullets can only be found in certain locations, other type of boats could be found.  In particular classic sailing yachts or certain type of luxury crewed motor yachts, or even super yachts, as some do carry bikes on board anyway, could be a suitable option.
As far as gullet yachts available, they can be found in very different ranges.  The super luxury de-luxe gullets are rare and difficult to find in Croatia, yet gullets such as Barbara,  Nostra Vita, Andjeo, Blue Star or a few others mostly visiting from Turkey, for example PAPA JOE could be considered the top of the range.  Second options are gullets of around 25-30m and permanently based in Croatia.  These could include models such as Eleganza, Fortuna or Andi Star for example.  In between these there are a number of other models, yet in case your budget is at a lower end, there are also crewed gullet yachts which can cost well below 10,000 Eur/week plus expenses.

We invite you to consider this type of yacht charter vacation as there are also an increasing number of on shore cafe bars, pubs and restaurants who will gladly cater for visiting cycling public.  With our yacht charter team looking forward to arrange your sailing itinerary as well as cycling tour, there is nothing that should stop a group of active yacht charter clients joining on board one of such yachts.

Private lifestyle and Yacht Charter for Millionaires!

To live the life of a Millionaire, one has to be rich. How exactly rich, that depends on the size of the yacht the rich can charter or even buy amongst other things.

Some say that having a luxury Range Rover and a lady who owns only one Hermes Birkin bag is the sign of a merely rich person, thus private lifestyle of a Millionaire will be limited to only one yachting holiday a year and a perhaps second home in the Med.  This is where the private lifestyle of a millionaire starts however.  Ultra High Net Worth individuals are likely to own a mansion and their lady may be a super model under circumstances, thus their lives will focus between the private, chauffer driven car that takes them to business meetings during the week, a private members club on  Wednesday night, and later to their own private jet before spending the weekend at their own private holiday villa, mansion or indeed an island on another continent.

The super yacht charter for these individuals comes not as an expensive holiday but a must do private showcase it seems.  Yachts such as ANDREAS L, the 60m BENETTI are likely to feature on their agenda when discussing their Mediterranean summer vacation in the family.  Yet, private lifestyle of millionaires includes many other aspects of entertainment and relaxation apart from merely one or two super yacht charter holidays a year.  Private concerts in membership clubs such as Arts Club or at the Serpentine Summer Party, attending exclusive events such as Cannes Film Festival, in particular for the screening of the Palme d'Or contenders or the obligatory London Fashion Week to name but a few.  Owning a number of super cars, huge number of designer clothes, custom made furniture and several properties across the world, all dotted with super expensive paintings or other works of art is on their shopping list.

Whatever their income and riches, unless they own a super yacht with their own Wikipedia page, the private lifestyle and super yacht charter for millionaires will be up for discussion.

De-Luxe Gulet Yacht Charter in the Mediterranean !

Amongst many a superyacht, there are also a number of de-luxe gulet yachts available for genuine luxury crewed yacht charters.Croatia, Greece and Turkey in the East Mediterranean are in particular the destinations of choice when it comes to gullet, gulet or goolet yacht charters.

The most luxurious gullets are based in Greece and Turkey with the greatest choice being offered in this two locations. Croatia has a good number of these traditional wooden vessels as well yet the choice of trully luxury vessels depends on the announcements of those usually based in Turkey to come and cruise in the Adriatic.  Montenegro has only a few such yachts, while most recently even in France you can charter a gulet yacht.  Italy and Malta have also in the meantime seen an increase in luxury crewed and de-luxe gullet yachts visiting or permanently staying in the area.

Whatever location one thing is certain.  De-luxe gullet yachts are offering a true value in terms of luxury crewed yacht charter.  Similarly sized designer sailing yacht from Wally, Perini Navi or Dubois would most certainly cost twice to hire.  The service on board of de-luxe gullet yachts is also exceptional and especially in Turkey, most of the time provided on all inclusive terms.  Gullets such as KAYA GUNERI V, ZELDA, ESTRELLA DE MAR and PAPA JOE in Turkey, Aegeotissa in Greece, Monte Cristo in Italy or Andjeo, Blue Star or BARBARA in Croatia, are some of those who qualify as genuine de-luxe motor sailors or indeed gullets available for family summer vacations.

The other best advantages of these yachts, other than great value and superior crew service, are their regular updates, refits and purchase of new equipment.  The owners of Barabar gullet in Croatia for example spend tens of thousands of Euros every year in order to ensure their boat and their business remain at the top of the yacht offering.  The owners of Andjeo have spent 200,000 Eur last year alone and have made sure their gullet Andjeo looks better than when it was new.  Considering that these boats do not cost ''millions'' as designer shipyard sailing yachts do, these amounts are huge.

With plenty of water toys on board and lots of water and jet skiing offered during your cruise, and latest technology that usually includes iPod dock, SAT TV in salon and great hi-fi system with cockpit speakers, one final advantage of de-luxe gullets is that they provide spacious accommodation and luxury toilets and finally and probably most importantly, most of them can also sail as well as motor up if necessary.

Monaco Yacht Show, the House of Fine Yachting !

The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) is the show for super yachts above 25m.  Held every year at the end of September it attracts numerous shipyards, luxury goods makers, super yacht agents, brokers and yacht charter clients.

The House of FINE YACHTING, as the MYS representatives casually call their fair, is indeed the most spectacular display of super yachts anywhere. Seen as the greatest exhibit of recently launched vessels, it is due to be held between 24th and 27th September 2014 and it promises to be bigger and more exclusive than ever.  Every time we visit Port Hercules outside of these dates, the principality looks relaxed, even empty and in some way unattractive.

Don't understand us wrong, Monaco has always a fair share of super yachts on display even during the coldest wintry days.  Yet during the MYS it does really come alive and the sheer number of super yachts on display makes your heart bounce harder and more frequent than at any time during the year.

As a must-attend event for everyone involved with super yacht industry, from shipyards, designers, yacht charter agents and brokers, equipment manufacturers, water toys providers, luxury good firms as well as yacht buyers and yacht charter clients alike, it always attracts a number of latest super yachts. Earlier this yacht, MYS Managing Director Gaelle Tallarida announced the expansion of the the show which can now welcome a record braking number of yachts.  With up to 115 super yachts (with 40 new models) and up to thirty superyacht tenders due to attend, we expect another find yachting display indeed.  The stunning SOLANDGE, an 85m giga yacht from German Shipyard Luerssen and Heesen's 50 MONACO WOLF, a record braking yacht delivered in 4 months, are expected to be amongst the major stars of the show.

Given that the MYS started off as a super yacht broker show back in 1991, it is amazing to have seen it grow to such spectacular levels nowadays.  Thus, if you have not yet been yet are keen to find out about the super yacht industry in general or are indeed considering chartering  a luxury yacht for your holiday in the future, we invite you to come along and join us for 2014 MYS show.  And don't forget to bring your best shoes as entering to view the most amazing super yachts in the world will require you to take them off before hoping on, so leaving anything other than a designer or high quality shoe nearby is certainly going to be frowned upon and a discount on your new yacht charter deal or a new super yacht order will be limited.

Luxury dining on the Adriatic Coast!

Konoba in Northern Region of Kvarner
Luxury Dining is a major part of any super yacht charter experience.  While any super yacht will have a professional chef on board, sailing in a new destination would not be as great an experience without hopping from island to island, from anchorage to anchorage and sampling local food, served in privately owned and managed restaurants, most of which have their own moorings, gardens where home-made food is grown and fabulous dishes served only there and its most original form.

Selection of fresh fish is displayed in good restaurants
Croatia as one of the most popular luxury yacht charter cruise destinations has made its reputation grow not just by the beauty of its Adriatic coastline or the fact it has over 1000 islands and reefs, but in large part mostly due to the existence of these amazing privately run konoba's and luxury, stylish restaurants which dot the bays around Dalmatia, the most popular luxury yacht charter location in the Adriatic.

Most such restaurants can be found on the obligatory route between Split or Trogir and Dubrovnik.  Islands of Hvar, Brac, Solta, Korcula, Vis and Elafiti or even Lastovo and Mljet are full of amazing little places, most of which open only during the high season.  This is in particular the case within the Kornati Archipelago where number of visitors drops considerably during the winter months, given that no local population exists as vast majority of islands are uninhabited.  On larger islands such as Hvar and Korcula or Vis, the restaurants tend to be open throughout the year.

These are also likely to be larger establishments with owners and their families actually living off trade and spending all of the year around. They will not only buy locally produced ingredients as owners of restaurants in Kornati or Kvarner region will do.  For most part they will catch their own fish in the morning, tend their own gardens in the afternoon and serve their own produced and made dishes in the evening.  In some cases, our clients have actually gone into their gardens and picked the vegetables themselves or have gone fishing with the owners the same morning. In some cases, it is also possible to join the chef in the kitchen and help prepare the meals or indeed learn how to prepare a local specialty.  One super yacht owner has in fact made his chef spend the whole week in a local establishment in Dalmatia so he can learn how to make his favourite local dishes and prepare them while he will be cruising in the Caribbean or Indian ocean in the years to come.

This all makes it a genuine adventure, a true luxury yacht charter experience we are all keen to explore and learn at least once in a lifetime.  So if you are after a gourmet super yacht charter in Croatia or elsewhere, you should speak to yacht charter specialists at SuperSailYachts.com and ask them to prepare your own tour of Croatia or indeed any other luxury crewed yacht charter destination so that you can experience not only the ultimate sailing holiday with your family, but also the best of local culture and food preparation.

NEW England Luxury Crewed Yacht Charters

Luxury Yacht Charter in NEW England is well worth exploring as a first if  not an alternative super yacht charter option.  Mega yacht sailing holidays during summer months out of Newport, Rhode Island is a genuine alternative to any other super yacht charter cruise in the Mediterranean.

Super Yacht Salacia cruising in NEW England
The starting point of any super yacht charter in the region is likely to be NEWPORT town.  As one of the older colonial towns in the USA, the town is full of history from the age of Colonialism to the recent times. A location of the first Synagogue in the US, it is also a religious place from where the charter route is likely to take your party to the Buzzard's Bay Islands amongst which aer Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Block Island the best known ones.

USA super yacht charter experience par excellence on Chasing Daylight
One of the most visited and popular super yacht charter destination in the region is certainly Martha's Vineyard.  The Edgartown is a stylish port of call, perfect for super yachts of all types.  The summer attracts everyone who is someone in the USA as the town is the oldest and wealthiest place in the area.  The shopping is impressive in the well presented streets of Edgartown and a  number of festivals and local events with national importance is huge in the summer too.  The Chappaquiddick Point is the must visit stop for lunch or a swim while on the island.   As the largest island in the Southern part of New England, this is a location where one day may not be enough to sample all of what the most prosperous spot in this part of the US has to offer.

Apart from these two locations you are also invited to visit Katama Bay nearby, Nantucket, Cuttyhunk and Hyannis, all of which are exceptioanlly placed to offer you great seafood in local restaurants, lovely beaches and lots of sun hopefully.
Charter a super yacht in NEW England therefore as you will not find a better location for luxury yachting holiday in the USA.
And if you need more inspiration, you can rest assured that Newport's festival season lasts all year, their impressive mansions are always open for tours and nearby Forbes family islands can show you what you can do to be an island owner yourself.

Super Yacht Charter in Spain

Luxury crewed yacht charter in Spain can take many forms and in a number of culturaly, historically and industrially different locations.  The usual family holidays are most of the time concentrating on the Balearics and yacht charter cruises around island of MALLORCA and IBIZA.

One of the modern marinas on the Island of Mallorca

Motor yacht charter clients or those who charter luxury sailing yachts for longer periods are likely to cross to Ibiza and spend at least one or two days around secluded islet of Formentera, a genuine peaceful paradise in the West Mediterranean.  Circumnavigation of both Ibiza and Formentera and return to Mallorca is a genuine Balearics luxury yacht cruise. For more adventurous yacht charter clients, will head eastwards from Palma and attempt to circumnavigate the island of Mallorca. If the length of the holiday permits historic port of Mahon and circumnavigation of Menorca could also be on the radar and is highly recommendable anyway.

Super Sail Yacht in Palma
Where do luxury crewed or super yacht charter clients go elsewhere in Spain?  Costa del Sol is very much built up concrete jungle which attracts old age pensioners throughout the year and the coastline is not as enchanting as the one in the Balearics.  For that reason, most yacht charters taking place in between Gibraltar and Malaga are weekend cruises on motor yachts.  Crossings to Morocco and its lively port of Tangier is one of the most do visits any luxury crewed yacht charter guest should consider when sailing in Costa del Sol.
One last popular location is obviously Barcelona and a cruise towards the northern tips of Costa Blanca with a stopover in Valencia, in particular during one of the America Cup competitions.  Visiting San Feliu, Llafranc, Cadaques, L’Estartit, Palamas and Tossa anchorage sh ould be on the must visit list.
In terms of yachts based here, there is an increasing number of those with the Spanish charter licence in the last couple of years.  Whereas in the past one could only charter a 30 year of super yacht with questionable history and ancient refit, nowadays some spectacular charter yachts find their way into the Balearics.  This is in particular the case with luxury motor yachts or mega yachts above 100’ as up to around 2010, not a single 30m+ superyacht had a charter licence here.

Thus, in case you are looking to charter a luxury crewed yacht in Spain and wish to enjoy either a spectacular scenery, the best on board service and facilities or simply to sample the best of local culture, enquire through charter@supersailyachts.com for your best quote now.  You would receive a first class service and a tailor-made super yacht itinerary as well as a professional guidance when selecting the luxury crewed yacht of your choice.

Super Yacht Charter in South of France !

Cote d'azur is the birhtplace of super yacht charter.
It is here where it all started in the 1960's and it is here today where you will find not only the most luxurious resorts, hotels and restaurants to visit, but also where the greatest choice of super yachts can be found.  Should you want to experience the best of summer and Mediterranean lifestyles, highest fashion, lovely food and perfect climate, charter a yacht in South of France during July or first few weeks of August to experience the best of what the region has to offer.

Super yacht leaving Old port of St Tropez

Together with the adjoining Cote d'Provence and Monaco, the South of FRANCE is the most visited luxury crewed yacht charter destination.  Even though some other locations, most notably Croatia and Greece in the East Med or Virgin Islands and Bahamas in the Caribbean offer more hidden bays, secluded coves, more space and privacy, French coastline has  nothing to hide.  In fact, the main reason one will want to come here is not to hide but to show off, be seen, see and explore what is the lastest, best and most luxurious in terms of both yachting as well as fashion.

We visit South of France at least twice a year and having sailed there last September we can only wish for more.  The climate here is sublime and for some reason warmer then most of the Mediterranean is even in late September of early October as well as April or May.  The water is cristal clear and the coastline wide, offering a number of luxury yacht charter destinations.

Super yacht moored in front of BB's house. That's Bridgette Bardot !

A typical itinerary in South of France would either start of finish in Monaco.  This may also give tax advantages as from 2013, all yachts in France have to pay up to 19.6% VAT/IVA on any advertised or agreed charter fee.  The  villages such as the picturesque EZE Bord de Mer, splending St Jean Cap Ferrat, beautiful Villefranche or fabulous Antibes are simply the locations one must visit.  Major towns such as Nice, Cannes, Toulon and Marseille are deffinitely the next on the list, while ueber-luxury St Tropez, Cap d'Antibes, Porquerolles and Lerin Islands are simply the locations where your yacht is overdue already now.

Super Yacht Roma at her dock

Add to this the VENICE like Port Grimaud, lovely St Maxim and further afield market towns such as Cassis or Bandol and you have a perfect super yacht charter itinerary for at least 2 if not up to 6 weeks.  If anything, your visit should be planned shortly after reading this as life is trully beautiful in South of France.

We most miss the leisurely strolls in St Tropez, cultural events of Nice, fabulous restuarants in Cannes' old town, shopping alongside Le Croisette, swimming off Lerin Islands, tender speeding and snorkelling around Porquerolles and impressive super yachts around Cap d'Antibes and St Jean Cap Ferrat.  Add to this a sublime walk around Port Hercules in Monaco and market shopping and you have a full French experience par-excellence.

Croatia is one of the latest mega yacht charter destinations.

It is becoming increasingly popular both thanks to a larger number of yachts frequenting in the Adriatic and the opening of a new super yacht marina in Tivat, Montenegro which is only hours away from the spectacular town of Dubrovnik but also because of a sheer number of untouched natural harbours and plenty of remote, yet well served, picturesque island towns.

A land of 1,120 islands, Croatia offers an amazing 3,500+  miles of coastline (2,500 of which belong to the islands).  The Dubrovnik is the most popular and most spectacular location indeed.  Super luxury villas, hotels and stylish, Michellin stared restaurants will await you here as much as plethora of festivals and events geared towards visiting tourists.

On top, sailing around Elafiti Archipelago or towards National Park on Island of Mljet or further South towards lovely historic town of Cavtat or Montenegro is what every super yacht charter client should do.
Super Yacht ELISA awaiting her guests
Other most popular locations for luxury crewed yacht charters in Croatia are celebrity island of Hvar and UNESCO town of Trogir with the neighbouring city of Split offering historical palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian as the best tourist hotspot.

Croatia offers a number of other fascinating places to discover on your private luxury crewed yacht charter.   Many Croatians will know that there are only a few places in the world blessed with nearly 3000 hours of sunshine that still truly deserve the description of being"unspoiled." The long chain of rugged islands of Croatia's mountainous coast makes this a super yacht charter haven as neither is the coastline overbuilt like Spain, neither protected or secluded as that of South of France.  It is therefore considered to be among the best in the world as the access is free almost anywhere and lovely deep channels, plethora of secluded bays and huge number of anchorages and a stable climate attract many a super yacht charter enthusiast to Croatia.

Finally, the sailing in Croatia offers little dangers and one wil neither encounter sharks or dangerous sting rays nor high waves or big seas, let alone long distance routes across the open sea unless one chooses to visit Venice or North Croatia and Dubrovnik in a short period of time.
Tended garden in the Royal town of Opatija, North Adriatic
In general, all clients will get their own privately tailored itinerary offering you chance to either enjoy privacy onboard your charter yacht and in case you will prefer untouched nature, wild beauty, generous and fragrant vegetation and remote hiking trails not visited by many. Alternatively, apart from viewing plenty of cliffs and caves, rocky inlets, fine pebble beaches and majestic bays, we can also take you to the hotspots for shopping and partying being during the day or in the night.
With many imperial powers setting their foot on these grounds, you can also opt for a cultural super yacht charter tour, exploring the centuries of occupation by foreign empires. The Palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, in Split, has been named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, just like many other locations along the coast. On top, many historical residences and imperial fortresses that speckle the Adriatic landscape are considered some of the finest examples of intact ancient or medieval architecture. Ancient and medieval towns rise from the clear blue sea creating stunning impressions which is what makes Croatia so unique and one of the best super yacht charter destinations in the world.

Hotel and Restaurants offerings in Croatia are very rich
One aspect of Croatia is less known in the world and that is the fact that Croatians are very modern in the way they dress and in the way they adopt latest pop culture or technological trends.  This makes Croatia equally interesting today as well as tomorrow and the country and especially the most visited coastal regions is in constant change.  The preferred café and restaurant culture prevails, yet this fine land of home made wine and olive groves, home made cheese and an abundance of fresh fish, has always successfully borrowed influences from the trade routes that have passed its shores for centuries and is also nowadays adopting latest trends the moment the do happen in London or NEW York.  It is therefore not surprising to find latest yachts, super cars or super yachts indeed showing off on the Croatian coast before they are even available in the most sought after British, US or Russian and German trade shows.
We therefore invite you to charter a super yacht with us as our knowledge of Croatia charter yachts, local crews, specific yacht charter destinations and best cruising itineraries is unparalleled. We regularly and personally inspect each yacht, meet the captains in private as well as in business roles, sample the chefs' cuisine and evaluate the service offered by each yacht crew.

Yacht charter itinerary:
A simple yacht charter itinerary that is usually recommend for those visiting Croatia on a super yacht would look as stated below.  A bespoke, fully tailored one, to include restaurant recommendations, all anchorages and bays as well as suggested ports and other useful information, would be prepared for you based on your special requirements.
Whatever and whenever you decide to do while in Croatia, you would normally fly into Split or Dubrovnik international airport.  For a bit of a cultural shock before or after the charter you should also consider visiting capital Zagreb as together with Budapest and Prag it is seen as the capital of culture in the Eastern Europe. You should always charter one way if possible and the route below can also be turned upside down, if you land in Dubrovnik first.  The alternative routes would take clients to North Croatia and North Dalmatia as both Kvarner region, Kornati Archipelago and Istrian Peninsula offer a totally difference yacht charter experience then the South Croatia around Split or Dubrovnik.

Super Yacht charter Day 1:
Embarkation on board of a super yacht will be organised depending on the size and type of your boat.  One of the best locations is medieval town of Trogir, a fascinating UNESCO protected location.  This lovely village offers charming streets, privately run restaurants, plenty of food and cloth markets and beautiful buildings including the medieval Trogir Chapel.  Alternatively, you would embark in ACI Marina Split or the newly built marina Kastela near the airport.

Splending views on the reflecting water
Super Yacht charter Day 2:
Begin your Croatia yacht charter with a cruise to Island Brac, a small island close to Split, for a pleasant swim and a bit of snorkelling. Visit a lovely medieval castle, now turned private hotel and if necessary order a local helicopter to take you back to your yacht or get the captain to send a tender to let you explore other parts of the island.

Super Yacht charter Day 3:
Sail to Hvar, the celebrity island, where each August all Croatian celebrities congregate for a one week of partying, and where royals such as Prince William or Prince Henry choose to spend their summer holidays on a regular basis.  Continue the cruise aboard your private yacht along the Pakleni (Hell) islands just opposite of the town Hvar or explore the old town and its huge number of alleys and steps for the rest of the afternoon and the evening.

Super Yacht charter Day 4:
Sail to Island of Korcula, and preferably circumnavigate its 60nm of shore.  The town of Korcula is the birthplace of Marco Polo and the house is currently a museum.  Vela luka and Lumbarda beach on the opposite side of the island of the islet Scedro on the South shore is the usual stopover for the super yacht charter guests in this region.

Super Yacht charter Day 5:
National park Mljet on the island of the same name is a must visit.  Here you should visit a 12th century Benedictine monastery set on an islet in the middle of Lake Veliko Jezero.  The anchorage of Luka Polace lies inside a deep fjord-like inlet, which is ideal for water sports and snorkelling.

Super Yacht charter Day 6:
The Elaphite Archipelago is the true paradise of nature as well as centuries old monasteries.  Only 10nm from Dubrovnik the island chain offer a selection of picturesque anchorages for lunch and swimming or snorkelling and an obligatory quiet overnight stay.

Super Yacht charter Day 7:
Visiting Dubrovnik is a must on any super yacht charter itinerary in Croatia.  This 13th century medieval walled town with Renaissance towers and an impenetrable wall, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, and together with Venice and Istanbul is usually always within the top 10 in the world.  The town should be explored both during the day and in the evening as its rich cultural and tourist offer as well as restaurant; café and bar culture is not to be missed.
